KELVIN Young's British Masters Bronze light-heavyweight title fight has been called off after Chris Hobbs was forced to withdraw to injury.

The Penhill pugilist was set to clash with Hobbs on Saturday, March 28 in Portsmouth.

However, the undefeated Southampton fighter dislocated his shoulder in sparring last night.

Hobbs said on Facebook: "Absolutely devastated to say I will not be fighting on March 28. 2nite in sparring I missed with a punch and dislocated my shoulder. It went back in but then came out again.

"I don't kno what happens from here, I'm in the best shape had a great camp and now I'm devastated."

Young Gun posted on Facebook this morning: "Proper, proper gutted! My fight in Pompey is off."

Whether this fight can be rescheduled remains to be seen as the British Boxing Board of Control are looking to scrap Masters title bouts from the summer.

Young's manager Keith Mayo told the Advertiser: "We are already looking at a couple of possibilities for Kelv.

"We have been offered something that we are looking at, but there is also a chance that he could fight on my show in Gloucester next month.

"We will look at what is on the table and decide what the best option is."

Mayo's show at Gloucester's GL1 Leisure Centre is being launched this evening with Andy Keates and Michael Mooney the headline bout for the Midlands Area lightweight title.

Also slated to appear at GL1 on Saturday April, 18, is rising Swindon welterweight star Ryan Martin, former Walcot and England amateur Danny Bharj and Swindon-based light-heavyweight Tariq Quaddus.
