KELLY Morgan’s dream of becoming a world champion has taken a step closer after talks with WBC super-middleweight Nikki Adler began.

The Swindon-based WBC Silver middleweight champion is chasing a fight with the German after the WBC said that they would sanction a world title bout between the two.

Morgan’s manager Richard Farnan has been in contact with Adler’s team and the 2002 Commonwealth Games javelin bronze medallist has already begun to try and pack on the extra weight.

The 36-year-old is now working with Swindon Town’s physiotherapist Paul Godfrey to look at ways to increase her muscle mass before the end of November.

“Rich has been in contact with Nikki Adler’s manager and she is open to the fight, so that is great news,” Morgan told the Advertiser.

“We are only in the early stages of talks, promoters still need to be talked too and there are a couple of other options for Nikki too.

“But I just feel it will happen, this is meant to be.

“I’m not sitting around waiting for an answer, I’m working with Paul Godfrey at Swindon Town four times-a-week doing something called occlusion training which basically tricks the brain into producing growth hormones.

“I also have to increase my protein intake from 60 grams to 288g a day – which is the equivalent of 30 chicken breasts.

“So we are looking at other ways to increase that safely and we are in contact with a supplier that batch test all their products to make sure that there is no cross-contamination with any products that might appear on a banned substance list.”

With preparations under way for a potential clash with Adler, Morgan is also focusing on a tune-up fight in September, but says that she requires extra funding and sponsorship to make it happen.

“We are looking at September in Bristol on an Andy O’Kane show, but to make it happen we have got to bring in extra sponsorship,'' she added. “I have got Sammy Cullis working hard on that so fingers crossed that will happen.

“I’m not looking past September at the moment, but I know there is a chance of a world title fight at the end of November.”
