SWINDON boxer Jamie Cox's opening fight in the World Boxing Super Series will be against WBA super-middleweight champion George Groves, it was confirmed tonight.
Unbeaten Cox was selected as the quarter-final point by Groves during a live Draft Gala at Monaco's famed Grimaldi Forum this evening, with the pair likely to meet in September and October.
The last-eight winners progress into the semi-finals, which are due to be staged early in the new year, with the last two standing going toe-to-toe in May next year for the trophy.
Cox has won all 22 of his professional bouts, while Groves - who like the 30 year old has also previously been trained by Swindon-based cornerman Paddy Fitzpatrick has a record of 26 wins and three defeats from his 29 fights.
