Penhill ABC took two boxers to Exeter to face opponents from host club Lympstone.

Schoolboy Jake Knowles was first up for Penhill against Harry Webb.

Knowles dominated the first round with solid punches and continued to pressure his opponent in the second, inflicting a standing eight count. Knowles went after the finish in the third and caught Webb with left and right-hand punches to the headprompting the referee to intervene and stop him receiving more punishment.

Next up was senior Frankie Nicoll, having his second fight in two weeks, against Lympstone’s Carl Connor.

Connor come out of the traps and attacked Nicoll from the bell, with the Penhill fighter landing a straight left and a powerful hook to the body which resulted in the home boxer retiring from the bout.

Penhill coach Simon Knowles said: “Jake did brilliantly against a more experienced boy. “Frankie has stopped his last two boys in the first round and is starting to punch very hard.”

“We are in temporary accommodation at the moment at the Premier Club in Stratton and would like to say a big thank you to John Roberts for putting us up and for all his help and support he has given us.”
