WALCOT boxer Tommy McDonagh bids for glory this weekend in the national final of the Junior ABA Championship at Rochester in Kent.
The hard-hitting 16-year-old faces tough northern champion Michael Connor from Leigh ABC in a Class 4 (66kgs) encounter.
McDonagh stopped London champion Gary Baker during round two in his semi-final, but knows Connor will be a tougher opponent on Saturday.
He said ahead of his big day: “This is my fourth consecutive national final so I should be getting used to them but I will still be a bit nervous come Saturday.
“Michael Connor has a similar record to my own so it should be a good bout.”
McDonagh’s coach Harry Scott added: “Tommy is good enough to win but it’s all about who performs best on the day.”
The action starts at 1pm tomorrow at the Passion Nightclub, Medway Valley Leisure Park in Rochester.
