AFTER playing without an overseas signing last term, Purton have already snapped up an international recruit for the upcoming season.
Purton have secured the services of Xander Pitchers, who plays first-class domestic cricket in South Africa for the Namibian national team.
The 21-year-old, who operates primarily as an opening batsman and bowls right-arm off-spin, has four first-class centuries to his name.
Pitchers has also played for St Annes in the Northern Premier League.
Purton begin their 2016 West of England Premier League Wiltshire division campaign with a trip to local rivals Swindon on May 7.
The villagers begin pre-season indoor nets, which will run for the next 10 weeks, on Tuesday night at Prior Park School in Cricklade.
Anyone interested in taking part is welcome. For more information, contact Purton captain Aaron Lee on 07909 330248.
