NATIONWIDE'S Jonny Clarke hit a whirlwind 94 against Castrol in Division One of the Swindon Midweek League.

His side totalled 173-5, Dill taking 4-37. With only nine fielders, some fine bowling by a weakened line-up had Castrol searching for runs and they could only manage 137-8.

Compton P&H continued their good start and finished off Swindon Mortgages by seven wickets. The Mortgages made 129-9 with contributions from Derek Milne 22, Bobby Griffiths 24 and Mike Flay with 27. John Baden with an unbeaten 50 and big hitting Rob Palmer's 52 helped Compton to 133-3.

Another side to make 133-3 and record a seven-wicket victory was Castrol, who had to thank Arrun Dickinson with 69 and Batchelor with 35. This was in reply to Wanborough's 132- 3 where Nick Stacey made 50 not out.

Swindon Mortgages pulled off a fine win over NALGO by three wickets with one ball to spare. Paul Penfold top-scored for NALGO with 33 as Simon Lewis took 3-32.

Jonny Clarke made another big score of 83 in a rearranged match against Stratton as Nationwide reached 160-4, Mick Harris supporting with 38 not out.

In reply, last season's star batsman in the league, Ajay, bludgeoned 73 before being caught, and Stratton finished on 128-7.
