MIDWEEK CRICKET

Nationwide batsman Jon Clarke, dropped when on six, went on to smash an unbeaten 109 against Wanborough in Division One of the Monahans league.

He steered Nationwide to a season's highest score of 198-4. In a high scoring match, Tweedale with his own season's best of 94 helped steer Wanborough to within striking difference, but once he fell there was little to support him and they ended on 174-5.

Stratton sprung a surprise on title hopefuls Compton with a two-run victory. Batting first Nick Moragemos hit 40 and with Steve Yeardley weighing in with 30 the Stratton innings closed on 129-7, Gumm taking 3-24. In the run chase the early loss of John and Jamie Baden influenced the outcome, but Lloyd (25) and Gumm (35) helped Compton to 127-6, requiring a boundary off the last ball.

Nalgo squeaked home against Wroughton. Some steady top order batting from Shaz Khan with 40 and 34 from Tahir Hanif helped Nalgo to 124-7, Mark McMeeking taking 4-23. In the chase an excellent 72 not out from Will Walker almost carried Wroughton to victory as they ended on 119-9.

In a rearranged fixture, Stratton overcame Bassett who scored 156-4. The Stratton response was clinical as Ajay with 72 not out and Nick Watta's unbeaten 65 took then to 160-3, the winning six coming with four balls to spare.

DIVISION THREE
Anchor and Ashbury played out a keen encounter at Moredon, with Anchor victorious. Dave Bott with 55 and Dave Cotton with 27 steered Anchor to 106-7. Neil Ashman then ripped through the Ashbury top order taking 4-15 which put paid to any thought of a win as they stumbled to 82-5.

Asad took 4-29 as Alcatel Lucent humbled league sponsors Monahans to 89 all out, only Sam Elliot showing any resolve with a fine 38. Imran with 52 and Shrivastava (30) remained unbeaten as they easily knocked off the 90 runs after Samuel was bowled in the opening over.

RWE Swindon had a resounding win over Motorola by 83 runs. RWE made 133-9 with Brown topping the batting with 37 not out. Motorola were then knocked over for 50, Abbott (3-22) and King (3-23) doing the damage.

Paul Squires, aged 17, made an unbeaten 47 before they lost four wickets in a staggering over by Phil Anderson (4-30). Bassett made steady progress and with Joe Paish making 38 not out they reached their target of 104 for eight wickets.

DIVISION FOUR

St Joseph's dismal run continued. This time they suffered at the hands of L&K Skips, themselves the whipping boys in previous seasons. The Skips amassed 176-5 before dismissing St Joseph's for 85.
