LECHLADE completed the formality of their promotion to the Glos/Wilts Division despite a crushing final day defeat at Winsley.

Once again it was a former Zimbabwe international to the fore, as Terrence Duffin hit an unbeaten 84 to guide Winsley to victory.

Earlier, Lechlade had posted 180-8 in their 45 overs, as several batsmen made promising starts but failed to push on.

Roger Pettifer (25), skipper Paul Rowley (23 not out) and Robert Howard (21) were the only three to get into the 20s, with extras the second top score with 23.

Winsley then made short work of their target, opener Tom Edwards (43) laying the foundations for Duffin to guide the hosts home.

Despite the defeat, Lechlade were confirmed as champions with Winsley a close third behind runners-up Potterne.

Malmesbury won the derby with Purton to leapfrog their rivals and finish the season in fourth place.

Chasing 213 for victory, the hosts were indebted to Tom Newman (85 not out) and James Pearce-Smith (73 not out), who saw them safely home with eight wickets remaining.

Raghu Krishnan was the mainstay of the Purton innings before tea, hitting 64 at the top of the order.

Elliot Hill (34) and Craig Miles (32) helped push the total to a competitive 212, as Phil Cook claimed 6-72 for Malmesbury.

Nationwide House failed to finish with the flourish they were looking for as they went down by six wickets at Westinghouse.

Chris Sharp (53) crafted a half century for the visitors but a middle order collapse saw them slump to 136 all out.

Westinghouse wasted no time in reply as Chris Ferris (46) and Christian Fry (57 not out) carried them to an easy win.

For Nationwide, Steve Lewis finished with excellent figures of 3-14 from 10 overs.
