THERE are several loose ends to tie up in the Swindon Indoor Cricket League.

Asians need to win one of their remaining two fixtures to be crowned Division One champions again, following their 56-run victory over Wroughton, thanks largely to Ray Patel’s 52 not out.

Should they slip up, Wootton Bassett are the only team able to take advantage after their thrilling final ball triumph over Shrivenham.

Luke Bradley-Leach’s 48 not out made the difference as Bassett scrambled home by two wickets.

Swindon have already won Division Two despite losing to Wootton Bassett 2nds by five wickets, while Swindon 2nds are strong favourites to join them in Division One.

Any two of Blunsdon, Faringdon and Nalgo 2nds will be relegated to Division Three, the former having missed an opportunity to pull clear when they lost to Swindon 2nds by 21 runs, despite Dave Legg’s 47.

Highworth looked nailed on to win Division Three but must emerge victorious in their final two matches to make absolutely sure, with Shrivenham 2nds waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces.

At the bottom, either Woodlands or Minety will join Ramsbury in Division Four next season.

United Churches are champions of Division Four in all but name after beating Shrivenham 3rds by 72 runs in a crucial match.

The second round of the Knock Out Cup produced some real shocks with Minety, Swindon and Nationwide all beating higher rated teams.

They will be joined in the quarter-finals by Shrivenham, Highworth, Wootton Bassett, Nalgo and Faringdon.
