TOCKENHAM showjumper Jessica Mendoza enjoyed another good result at the Toscana Tour CSI three-star Arezzo IV Grand Prix in Italy on Sunday.
Riding Spirit T, owned by her mother Sarah Mendoza and John Roberts, the UK Sport lottery-funded World Class Development Programme rider placed fourth against a competitive field of more than 50 riders.
With 15 combinations going through to the jump-off, Mendoza produced two perfect clear rounds aboard the 13-year-old bay mare to finish just outside the top three, after posting a time of 41.24 seconds.
Earlier in the week, Mendoza had recorded four top-five placings competing in the Toscana Tour’s Silver Tour.
Aboard Classic Highfly, a 10-year-old bay mare owned by her mother, the combination recorded some good results, with a third placing in Thursday’s 1m40 Against the Clock competition and a fourth-place finish in Sunday’s Two Phase 1m35 class.
The combination also enjoyed a second placing in the 1m40 Against the Clock Silver Tour Final Qualifier.
Against a field of more than 90, she produced a solid clear round to finish only 0.11seconds behind the leader, Italy’s Giampiero Garofalo.
Mendoza also rode Ramiro de Belle Vue, again owned by her mother, to a first-place finish at the Italian competition, in the 1m40 Two Phase class, after a quick clear round saw her take the win just over a second and a half ahead of Swedish rider Emma Emanuelsson.
