SWINDON'S greyhounds will be looking to claw back a deficit when they meet Hove and Poole in the next round of matches in the BAGS/SIS Track Championship, greyhound racing's biggest team event.

The Blunsdon outfit faced a tough away fixture on the Sussex coast in the opening leg of dog racing’s Champions League yesterday evening and failed to muster a win.

However, racing manager Clive Oseman will be confident of a big performance when the teams meet next at Poole on Saturday, November 23 and then at home for the final round on Friday, December 6 in the £200,000 competition.

Forging ahead after last night’s opener were Hove, who amassed a huge total of 141, leaving Poole in second on 71 with Swindon just behind on 68.

The team that is top of the table after the round robin matches will compete in the final at the Owlerton Stadium in Sheffield on December 23.

Newcastle are the defending champions after triumphing at Perry Barr in Birmingham last year.
