Swindon have climbed to the top of the South and South Wales Cycle Speedway League following their victory over Newport.
On a sunny afternoon at the Oasis Leisure Centre, a tight contest was always likely to unfold. Both teams traded blows but Swindon eventually emerged victorious 92-87.
Jim Bailey had a couple of super rides for Swindon, however, Matty Rayson, who is returning from a broken collarbone sustained earlier in the year, looked quick and competitive and claimed valuable points in each of his rides.
Swindon’s next match takes place next weekend against Southampton at the Oasis where maximum points must once again be the aim.
