SWINDON Harriers young athletes team performed very well in the last Young Athletes League match at the County Ground track, finishing second behind a strong Plymouth team.

Best performance of the day came from Jon Rees, who won athlete of the match with a time of two minutes 10 seconds in the under 15 boys 800m.

In the under 13 girls, Jessica Salles showed great promise, winning an excellent 1200m race. Sophie Clarke was second in the 150m and third in the 75m.

Paige Burton was third in the 800m. Charlie Richards showed promise with graded performances in the 75m hurdles and shot.

In the under 13 boys, Ben Tanner won the 75m hurdles and long jump and was third in the 100m. Declan Wallace was second in the 100m and Josh Rowlands was also second in the 1500m.

Shaun Parker showed a great turn of speed, finishing second in the 200m, and he won the 75m hurdles.

Matthew Raymond came second in the long jump and third in the 1500m. Nyle Clinton was second in the 800m and Noah Rubio was second in the B 800.

In the under 15 boys, Matthew Tanner was second in the 100m, 200m and long jump. Dan Everitt won the B 100m and was second in the long jump.

James Stanley and Ben Bullock won the A and B 1500m. Dan Large ran an excellent 400m race, winning in 58 seconds.

He also came second in the 200m. Akash Pednckar won the 75m hurdles.

In the field Josh Legg and Sam Hillier picked up excellent points with Josh getting two graded performances in the shot and hammer where he finished first and second. Hillier won the B 800m, the B javelin and was second in the shot.

In the under 15 girls, Zoe Large once again excelled, winning the shot and coming second in the discus. Amber Mansell was second in the javelin and third in the 200m. Erin Sweeney won the 800m with a fine display of front running.

In the under 17 boys, Luke Lewington was second in the 400m and Craig Edmonds won both the 1500m and 1500m steeplechase.

In the under 17 girls, Emily Connolly won the 3000m. Catrin Garland won the 80m hurdles and high jump B. Natasha Zebroski won the 300m and high jump A.
