SWINDON teenager Max Cook continued his fine form in the British Superbike Standard Moto3 championship at Oulton Park.
Currently on a four-race winning streak, Cook, who had a testing qualifying session, got off to a good start, but an incident during the start resulted in the race being immediately red flagged.
Following a lengthy delay, the race was shortened to 11 laps and when the lights went out, Cook again got off to a flyer and within the first lap had made his way up to first in standard class.
He got his head down and was immediately involved in a number of battles with Open Class bikes.
With his lap-times consistently in the low 1:48’s, high 1:47’s he pulled a good gap to P2 which enabled him to control the race.
He set the fastest lap of 1 minute 47.6 seconds on lap nine of 11 and was the only standard class rider to get into the 1:47’s Cook said: "I’m so happy I’ve finished this weekend on a high with winning the race.
“With the weekend we’ve had, with things going wrong, the crash and lack of track-time, there were times over the weekend I didn’t think I’d be able to keep the run going.
“The team have been awesome getting the bike ready for qualifying and perfect for the race, so I owed it to them to give it everything to get the win, which is for them as they have put in so much effort.
“The race itself was good as I took the lead early and made a good gap to second.
“I’m also happy as I managed to stay within a group of Open Bikes and I enjoyed the battle with them.
“To come away with five wins from five is a dream come true.”
