SWINDON and Wiltshire star Harriet Ferris is celebrating after winning the under 14 girls league event at the Bracknell Badminton Bonanza.

Ferris enjoyed a 100 per cent record in the competition, beating four Oxfordshire county players on her way to lifting the title.

She then teamed up with Swindon clubmate Matt Iling to take part in the adult mixed doubles event, the two teenagers winning two of their four qualifying matches.

Iling enjoyed success in the U16 League singles too, battling his way to the final where he lost an entertaining tussle 21-19 to Berkshire's Gavin Lau.

Iling also gave a good account of himself in the men's doubles alongside Aaron French, the pair missing out on a semi final spot by just two points - only being beaten by the eventual winners, Lee and Lim, from London.

The Badminton Bonanza format is an open tournament for players of all abilities and broken down into social and league sections.

The Birmingham Bonanza takes place on August 9 and 10 at the National Indoor Arena.

The event is quite a spectacle, with 28 courts in progress at the same time.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the Badminton England website and must be completed by July 14.
