TOP owner Alison Lewis's Olympic dream is alive and well after seeing her horse Akosie-du-Wonderland selected on an elite list of showjumpers.

The seven-year-old has been included on the equine pathway, a select list of horses with potential to win medals for Britain, after leaving some of the country's best in her wake in recent weeks.

Lewis, from Cricklade, has owned Akosie since she was three and believes her latest achievement can only help in her bid for the 2012 Olympics.

Horses on the equine path will receive special attention from the British team, including extra training and veterinary care, as they look to take advantage of the potential they see.

Lewis said: "It is great news. Only a few horses get chosen for this equine pathway and they have to have something to be chosen for it.

"The letter I got said their aim was to select horses that could win medals for Britain on a world stage. They do have the 2012 Olympics in mind but they will be looking at other world events as well.

"You can go on and off the list at any time though and the horses progress is recorded. The British team saw her recently and will be going to see her in Luxemburg next weekend."

Akosie-Du-Wonderland is ridden by Ben Maher, a British member for the Beijing Olympics later this year, and confidence is high in the camp after some impressive recent performances.

Lewis said: "She has performed really well at Chester and Switzerland and beaten some really good riders.

"She has beaten some of the horses that will be going to the Olympics this year so we are all very happy with how things are going."

Akosie-Du-Wonderland won the Derby Trial at Hickstead last week before finishing fifth in Sunday's speed derby.
