HOCKEY NORTH DIVISION: Wootton Bassett Ladies extended their lead to three points at the top of the table when they defeated second-placed Bath Buccaneers 2-1 at home.
A goal from Nicky Wills, following an accurate cross from Nicky Gardner, gave Bassett an early lead.
But Bath's sustained pressure was rewarded with an equaliser before half- time.
Midway through the second half, a goalmouth scramble led to a short range shot by Nicky Wills, who secured the crucial second goal.
Joint players of the match were captain Vicky Blundell and Becky Williams.
On Saturday Bassett are at home to Gloucester 2nds.
- Bassett 2nds XI played well to win a keenly-contested Severn 2 league game 2-1 at Cheltenham.
A fine strike from Natasha Moore yielded the only goal of the first half after some good work by Sammy Jennings and Emma Langdon.
Cheltenham came back strongly in the second half, and levelled the score, but Bassett maintained their form and player of the match Sarah Scarth scored the winning goal after Moore's pass from a short corner.
