The electric-paced start from Taxi Paddy and never-say-die attitude of Paul Foster's explosive Dark Hondo saw another double come in for Kennel Man but an unlucky first bend for Steve Rayner's Monifieth Flyer saw an end to the completion of a treble two weeks running.

Tonight's first race (7.35pm) at the Abbey should see Grant Gillett's Call The Butler stride away from six calling in on the winners podium for an over due victory parade.

Darryl Porter's Miss Lavally in three and Pete Swadden's trap four starting Tonela Beauty are both well capable of winning at this level, but recent form may suggest otherwise a couple to keep in mind for the larger tri-cast returns.

An easier forecast bet should be incurred by the tote this evening in race two (7.50) with Stuart Cogan's trap two runner, Hazy Royal and Bob Hannan's Idenas Champion neighbouring in three. Both have an excellent chance of winning with Cogan's entry taking the edge.

A reasonable start for Terry Kibble's Live Classic in race four (8.20) will be good enough to see the trap six-fixated runner see gold. My only worries are his inconsistent starts from the boxes. Small wagers are a must though.

Race eight (9.20) begins an early barrage of high-graded affairs and this A2 is no exception.

Porter's Spirithill Jack in five is another, who with a decent enough start can get back on track to another healthy stay at the top.

Tonight he faces the likes of Cherie Llewellyn's Delius Tartan in two who will be a hard competitor to hold off, on the run for home.

In race 10 (9.50), Blunsdon die hards will see Fedon Glass make a return to the Abbey under the careful eye of Paul Walden and going straight into the top grade of A1, the trap six-placed runner will have his work cut out.

Swadden's Away Princess gains the red jacket in one and will be the likely and worthy race favourite, but hot on her heels and a danger will be Paul Clarke's trap two entry, Shennas Ceilidh.

The last race of the night is a belter and cannot be missed at any cost, another A1, but this is some of the best running at the Abbey.

All six competitors have arguments for claiming the win.

On current form it has to be Terry Kibble's Cashen Ridge. This trap five runner showed Paul Foster's Dark Hondo a clean pair of heels from the start of the Abbey 509er and was caught out on the run for home, but tonight over the shorter trip of 480m, it's Cashen Ridges turn to shine.

Tonight's top tips: Race eight (9.20) Trap 2 Delius Tartan (2-5-4) Race 10 (9.50) Trap 1 Away Princess (1-2-6) Race 13 (10.35) Trap 5 Cashen Ridge (5-2-3)
