SWINDON’S Dennis Smith won the CIU (Club and Institute Union) national singles title for a second time.
Smith, who last took the crown in 2002, demolished Durham’s Paddy Lenagh 4-0 in the final to take the £1,000 top prize.
He had earlier beaten former champion Chris Thompson 4-3 in the last four at Chesterfield.
By subsequently seeing off Lenagh, he joins a list of names to have won the event that includes Andy Fordham, Ted Hankey and Bob Anderson.
Meanwhile, Wiltshire Youth kept their stranglehold on top spot in the Southern Section Division One after a commanding 14-3 win over Herefordshire on Sunday.
Josh McCarthy beat Ryan Gittings 2-0 with a 25.69 average to pick up the player of the match award at the Rodbourne Cheney Working Men’s Club.
He was closely followed by 12-year-old Zac Cross who defeated Charlotte Barnes 2-0 with a 23.86 average.
The lady of the match was under 21 thrower Amy Baxter, who threw three 100s in a row in her first leg, on her way to a 2-0 victory over Emmy Lou Owen.
The Under 21s man of the match was Chris Aubrey, whose current form has earned him the number one spot in the youth county system.
He crushed Ashley Pratt 3-0 with a 28.36 average as his county romped to an emphatic win.
Wiltshire has a strong youth side that has produced no fewer than four Southern Section champions - Tony Clark, Matty Aubrey, Chris Aubrey and Kayleigh Woolf - three of which play for the adult side.
