SWINDON Road Club’s cyclocross riders dominated at the Cirencester Off-Road Duathlon recently, with Dan Lewis securing victory in the senior men’s race.

Competitors took on a two-mile cross-country run before completing a 10-mile mountain bike ride and then running a further two miles.

In muddy conditions, Lewis was third approaching the end of the initial run, but found himself up with the leader coming out of the first transition.

He pulled away on the bike ride and held a comfortable lead at the second transition, before easing home in the final run.

Lewis was joined on the podium by fellow Swindon Road Club member Crispin Doyle, who crossed the line in third. Claire Smith won the senior women’s race while Sharon Dolman was third.

Pete Hutchinson was the first cyclocross rider home along with his daughter Kerrie who came second in the youth contest and 11th overall in the half-distance event.

Other Swindon competitors were Debbie Jones, Meredith Grimsley and Andy Smith.
