MARTIN Sell’s bid to earn a place on the European Tour ended in unceremonious fashion as he was disqualified following his final round at the penultimate phase of Q School yesterday.

The Wrag Barn pro put himself in contention for one of the 17 qualifying places in Alicante with a good performance on day three, but things went down hill in his final round before he was disqualified for signing for the wrong score.

On the course, Sell carded eight pars and a birdie on the front nine of his final 18 holes to give himself a chance, but the back nine was not so kind.

A birdie at 11 was the last bright spot before a bogey quickly followed at 12, and one further par led to a run of four straight dropped shots before a double bogey on 18 finished his round.

After realising he had signed for the wrong score, Sell quickly alerted the attention of the tournament officials which led to his disqualification.
