A BIRDIE at the last meant David Howell was set to make the cut at the KLM Open after today’s second round.
The Swindon ace made a three on the par-four 18th at Kennemer Golf Club in Holland to reach three-under for the tournament and sneak into the final two rounds by one shot.
The birdie was the fourth in a one-under round of 69 for Broome Manor pro Howell, whose day had started badly with a bogey at the second.
He was back level for the day by the turn and then made three birdies and two bogeys on the back nine to make sure he qualified for weekend.
