DAVID Howell capped his return to action on the European Tour with a creditable tied 12th finish at the KLM Open today.
The Swindon ace has not played since the US PGA Championship four weeks ago but posted four under-par rounds in Holland.
Starting the final round 10-under, Howell shot a three-under 67 at Kennemer Golf Club to haul himself up the leaderboard and finish on 13-under overall.
That was six shots behind winner Thomas Pieters, of Belgium, who scored a five-under final round to triumph on 19-under.
It was an iffy start to the day for Broome Manor pro Howell as he double bogeyed the par-three third hole. However, two birdies before the turn saw him back level for his round.
Howell then dropped off the pace again with a bogey at the 11th hole but he finished like a train a run of four straight birdies between 14 and 17 saw him finish high up the leaderboard.
