BROOME Manor youngster Miles Mackman was happy with his performance despite missing the cut at the British Amateur Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes.
Mackman carded a one-over par 144 for the opening two rounds in testing conditions on the Lancashire links, but it wasn't enough to progress to the matchplay stage of the tournament.
The 21-year-old former St Joseph's schoolboy shot a level par 72 at St Annes Old Links on Monday to keep himself in contention after the opening round.
But a one-over par 72 around the tougher Royal Lytham course yesterday morning saw Mackman join a host of stars, including two-times winner Gary Wolstenholme, to make an early exit.
"It's disappointing not to go through but I thought I played reasonably well given the conditions," he said.
"But the standard of golf is so high that one little mistake can prove so costly.
"This was a great experience for me and I hope to go back next year and give it another shot."
