HAMPTWORTH tournament professional David Hutton, who recently won the Hills Wiltshire Professional Championship for the third successive year but disappointingly failed to gain a place in the final Open qualifiers, won his third tournament of the season on the West Region PGA Tour with a round of four below par 66 in the Minchinhampton Pro-Am.

He finished two strokes ahead of unattached professional Adam Constable.

Edward Goodwin (Cirencester) was joint eighth with 72 and South Cerney's Colin Harraway joint 16th with 75.

  • Promising young Marlborough golfer Ben Amor and his paternal grandfather John pulled off a notable family double in the club's July Sunday medal.

Ben, just turned 13 and the elder son of Marlborough professional Simon Amor, was a four-stroke winner of the top division with two under par nett 70 playing off eight handicap, while Marlborough builder John won division three by two with nett 76 off 21.

The husband and wife partnership of David and Kay Tyler won Marlborough's mixed foursomes with 38 stableford points.

They beat another husband and wife combination, Dave and Sheila Hubie, by two, with Craig Brown and Gwen Stuart third with 35.

Marlborough seniors' Hall of Fame qualifier was won by B Williams with 38 stableford points. R Henry was second with 36 and H Crossan third with 35.

  • Tony White, playing off four handicap, returned the best nett score in the second of Broome Manor's three BRG Cup medals with a round of six under par 65.

It gave him a one stroke victory in division one (0-15) over Stephen Davies (10), Jonathon Guy (12) was third with 67.

Tom Love won division two (16-28) with nett 70 playing off 28. Brian O'Toole (18) was second with 73 and Matthew Hibbs (24) third with 74.

Fourteen-handicap John Grace won Broome Manor's Remembrance Cup with 42 stableford points.

Stuart Baker (24) was second with 40 and John Reeves (28) third with 39.

County player Jason Beint (2) carded the best gross of one under par 70 and Paul Jeffcutt (19) the lowest nett of 66 in Broome Manor's July medal.
