NICKY Watt says the arrivals of Jaroslav Cesky and Michal Pinc at the Link Centre persuaded him to return to the Wildcats.

The popular forward, pictured right, has played with the Czech duo for the last two seasons at Bracknell, having previously been on the Swindon roster in 2008/09.

And he explained that the draw of Cesky and Pinc had been a strong one after completing his switch back to Wiltshire.

“A big part of my decision to come back was teaming up with Jaro and Pincy again,” said Watt.

“They have become good friends and we have a good relationship on the ice.”

Watt enjoyed two highly impressive seasons at Bracknell, posting 64 points in his first campaign and then notching 58 points last term, proving himself one of the standout British players in the English Premier League.

However, his team could not match his personal success as they failed to make the play-offs on both occasions, and Watt reckons he is joining a stronger team this time out.

“I'm really looking forward to coming back to Swindon, it's a good place to play and the fans are awesome,” he said.

“Ryan (Aldridge, head coach) is putting a great squad together here at the moment.

“We have a great bunch of guys here and a very talented hockey team.”

Aldridge was understandably delighted with the recruitment of the 24-year-old Scot, who he believes will add much-needed fire to the core of the side.

“Nicky brings so much to the table,” said Aldridge.

“He sticks up for his teammates and knows the right time to drop the gloves, something I think we lacked last season.

“He also puts up good numbers and links up well with Cesky and Pinc and I am excited to see them play together in Swindon.”
