SEAN Millwaters believes that Southern Counties South survival isn’t a bridge too far his Supermarine side, despite their disastrous start to the season.

Supermarine have been through a turbulent time since their promotion from the Dorset & Wilts One Division, with their 46-0 defeat at home to Frome meaning Millwaters’ men have been beaten in every outing of the season so far.

But the Marine head coach is hoping that some festive cheer can help his team turn the corner and Millwaters would love to see them finally shatter their losing streak before Christmas.

The Blues get to grips with their penultimate assignment of the year this weekend as they make the trip to Midsomer Norton, who themselves were hammered 53-10 by North Dorset last Saturday.

“I don’t believe that survival is beyond us,” said Millwaters.

“Last season, you could get away with making a mistake but in this division, every time you do make a mistake, other teams take advantage of it.

“We were not 46 points worse than Frome last weekend and the thing for us is that we just need to start setting ourselves little targets in games. We need to look at the next 10, 20, or 30 minutes and say ‘we’re going to concentrate on winning our own scrums’ or ‘we’re going to win our own line-outs’.

“Every time we go to a team, they seem to be have a President’s Day every time, so read into that what you will.

“Midsomer Norton are much stronger at home but if we get at them from the start, that could that will make them start thinking about what happened to them last weekend.

“We’ve got two games left before Christmas and it would be great if we could get a win before the break – if we win this weekend, then I think we’ll win the next one.”
