RUGBY: SWINDON coach John Brown is convinced brighter times are around the corner for his winless side.

Frome visit Greenbridge Road in South West Two East tomorrow with Brown's men hoping they can claim their first two points of the season at the sixth time of asking.

Both sides need points to pull clear of the drop zone and, after a narrow loss to Henley Wanderers, Swindon are edging closer to that elusive first success.

Brown said: "The team still firmly believe that have the calibre of players to play at South West Two level and, with a little more effort and the rub of the green, they will start to prove that very quickly.

Brown has made a couple of changes with Jack Badminton returning after an injury to his shoulder while Mark Baker regains his full-back slot having been away with work commitments.

Matt Ward is the only newcomer to the squad, gaining recognition after a number of impressive performances with the second string.

n SKIPPER Dave Floyd returns to Wootton Bassett's line-up tomorrow as they bid to bounce back from their first defeat of the season.

Second row Floyd was one of several absentees as injury-hit Bassett's unbeaten start was ended in emphatic style, 29-0, at Wimborne.

But he leads a raft of returning faces as bottom-placed Cooper Avon make the Southern Counties South visit to Stoneover Lane.

Floyd reforms his partnership with Ian Mason in the second row, adding several lineout options to the team.

The back row is at full strength and unchanged from last week with Alex Penny, Neil Smith and former Old Patesians flanker Bruce Elliot providing a formidable force.

Up front, influential young prop Gary Williamson comes back into the fold after representing Bath University against an Oxford University side that included ex-0Australian international Joe Roff.

Williamson teams up with the ever-improving Adam Rumble and veteran Mark Roshier.

The backs also feature several changes. Debutant scrum-half Craig Iles has followed Elliot from Old Patesians and goes straight into the first XV, while Sean Millwaters retains his place at fly-half.

The centre pairing is the ever-present Jon Clarke and back row Tim Gallimore - a frequent partnership in their Supermarine days.

Former Colt John Mahone, Ben Bailey and Mark Trowbridge make up the back three.

n SUPERMARINE hope a morale-boosting midweek win over Brize Norton can spur them to a first Southern Counties North triumph tomorrow.

The floodlit clash saw the welcome return of centre Shaun Higgins and No 8 Rich McEwen from hamstring injuries and proved a valuable workout for more than 30 players.

Tries from second team skipper Jim Ainscough, Higgins and Alex O'Neill lifted their confidence, Dan King converting twice, and Marine will hope they can carry that form into tomorrow's home clash with fellow strugglers Buckingham.

Captain Danny James leads an unchanged tight five and Ian McMurray and McEwen return in the back row to provide extra pace and mobility.

Rob Pinchin switches from openside to blind side flanker.

In the back line, fit-again Mark Wells returns to his favoured fly-half slot.

O'Neill switches to the wing and Higgins returns at outside centre to renew his partnership with King.

New recruit Stu Knight makes his debut on the other wing.

Billy Smith continues on the bench to provide front row cover with back row George Cowley expected to make a big impact at some stage.

Another new recruit, wing Steve Rich, completes the bench as back line cover.

The second string, the Blades, host Wootton Bassett 3rd in Dorset & Wilts Three North, having won two from two.

The pack is bolstered by the return of second rows Richard Dodd and Andy Uzzell, with Paul Smith returning from injury and Mick Clark reverting to the second team backs after his first team debut.
