THERE was little danger Nick Morris was ever going to be tempted away from his home away from home in Swindon over the winter as he prepares for another season with the Robins.

The 21-year-old has signed up for a fifth successive season at the Abbey Stadium and becomes the sixth rider to be confirmed as part of Swindon’s 2016 septet, with the Robins revealing the return of Josh Grajczonek on Saturday.

Australian Morris, who followed Swindon team manager Alun Rossiter to the Abbey from Coventry Bees back in 2012, says that he feels settled with the Robins and is also looking forward to being part of a team sporting even more Aussie flavour next term as he rides alongside the likes of Jason Doyle, Justin Sedgmen and Grajczonek.

However, he could be making one departure of sorts in the new year as he explores the possibility of moving out of manager Rossiter’s Swindon home, where he has stayed during the season since first coming to England as a teenager.

“My girlfriend is coming over with me next year, so I think we’re going to look to get our own place – we’ll still be over at Rosco’s house all the time though,” he said.

“I never did anything to look for another team and Swindon have always looked after me, so I’m looking forward to being back there again and it’s all good.

“The team they’re supposed to be putting together looks really strong and there are a lot more Aussies in there, which is good. We all get on with each other and have a laugh in the pits.”

The 2015 season provided plenty of high points for Morris, who made his senior Australia debut in the World Cup, where he helped the Aussies beat Rossiter’s Great Britain in the semi-finals before securing a bronze medal in the final in Denmark.

Morris also captained his country in the U21 World Cup in his home country, again coming away with a bronze medal and will be stepping up on the domestic circuit next year, having left Premier League speedway to sign for Sparta Wroclaw in the Polish Ekstraliga, where he will race alongside world champion Tai Woffinden.

Morris said: “I’m not doing Premier League next year and I’m going to be racing in Poland, which should be good and should help me improve. My girlfriend has a pretty good track in her back yard, so I’ve been practicing out there and working on a few things to do with my style before I come back over (to England) in February.”
