Alun Rossiter saw his Robins regain top spot in speedway's Elite League but insisted the team will need to improve if the season is to end in glory.
Swindon shrugged off mechanical problems and some below-par individual displays to beat closest rivals Poole Pirates by the tightest of margins, with Leigh Adams and Lee Richardson securing a shared last-heat decider in a 47-46 win.
It maintained the Robins' unbeaten record at Blunsdon this season but with the prospect of the two sides meeting again in the end-of-season play-offs, Rossiter expects better.
He said: "It was great to win tonight but I suppose you can say one or two of the performances were disappointing and we'll certainly have to up our game if we meet Poole in the play-offs and have to go there in the second leg."
Rossiter also confirmed that Tomasz Chrzanowski - the main victim of mechanical failure - is still suffering badly with his tonsil problem and is considering going to see a doctor in Poland tomorrow.
