SWINDON Robins new boy Bradley Wilson-Dean became the New Zealand Solo champion for the first time in his career this morning.
Wilson-Dean, who was confirmed as a member of the Robins for 2017 a little more than a week ago, improved on his second place from last year to lift the title, despite a crash during the heats.
The 22 year old saw off the challenge of Grant Tregoning, Dale Finch, Andy Aldridge and Jake Turner to wrap up the win at Oreti Park.
"This is an awesome feeling. I'm the first of three generations of speedway riders to win it,'' he told stuff.co.nz.
"My dad rode and my uncle and my grandad. So it's pretty special and I'm looking forward to heading back to the UK as the 1NZ – finally.''
