SWINDON Robins will begin their 2017 SGB Premiership campaign at home to Belle Vue Aces on Thursday, April 6 after the fixtures for the new season were released this morning.
The Manchester-based Aces will be the first visitors to Wiltshire despite their future having been in doubt earlier this winter.
The club were left in limbo after they were dramatically closed down under their old management at the end of last season amid concerns about their financial management.
However, the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) last week confirmed that the Aces would be racing in the new season.
Two days after the opening day of the season, the Robins will travel to top-flight newcomers Rye House in the first round of the new Knockout Cup competition, with the return leg at Blunsdon on Thursday, April 13.
The Robins will host Poole on Easter Sunday (April 16) before a run of five straight away league fixtures, starting with Somerset on Friday, April 21 and concluding at Wolverhampton on Monday, May 22.
