CRASH victim Sebastien Alden admits he would gladly pay a visit to the shale more often if it helps transform him into an established Elite League rider.

The young Swede has been recalled to the Robins team in place of out-of-sorts Aussie Travis McGowan, two months after suffering a fractured heel in a home meeting against Belle Vue Aces.

Doctors feared the injury would end Alden’s season, but the 22-year-old has been back on the bike in his native Sweden for over a month now.

As he prepares to make his Blunsdon comeback against Wolverhampton tonight, Alden revealed his high-speed crash may have actually helped, not hindered his speedway career.

“I’ve been riding for four or five weeks already and I feel really good,” he said.

“The injury wasn’t as bad as the doctors thought, it was only a small fracture in the heel.

“I think I am riding better now, after the crash, than before it happened.

“I’ve been doing really well for Masarna in Sweden, scoring double figures in nearly all my meetings.

“Maybe I have found the answer. Every time I am struggling for form I should have a big crash, then it will all be okay again!”

With just two regular season fixtures remaining before the Elite League play-offs, Alden knows he must come out of the gates all guns blazing.

As he prepares to embark on a third spell at Swindon, the man from Vasteras is determined to make his mark on the Abbey shale.

He said: “I wanted to come back earlier, but then Swindon signed Jurica Pavlic and he has been doing really well.

“Some of the other boys have not been scoring very well though.

“When Rosco phoned to say he wanted me back I was very excited.

“I feel sorry for Travis because he is a very good rider, but that is speedway.

“It’s a good time for me to come back because we have some big meetings coming up and then the play-offs.

“I know what I’m capable of and hopefully I can score five, six, maybe seven points a night to help the team.”

Austrian Manuel Hauzinger is still sidelined with injury, so Richard Sweetman will step into his leathers for tonight’s meeting.

Swindon will operate the rider replacement facility for Mads Korneliussen, who has yet to recover from his nasty spillage at Peterborough on Monday.

Wolverhampton will hand an Elite League debut to 17-year-old Ludvig Lindgren, younger brother of club captain Fredrik Lindgren.
