ROBINS’ Chris Schramm failed in his bid to join teammate Scott Nicholls in the British Championship final as he bowed out in last night’s second semi.

Schramm was well placed after his first race of the night at Scunthorpe’s Eddie Wright Raceway, following Stuart Robson home in second to pick up two points but a fall in his second outing proved costly.

Another second behind Leigh Lanham in heat 11 gave Schramm a glimmer of hope but he was outclassed in his next race, finishing last behind Edward Kennett, Jerran Hart and Lewis Bridger.

Schramm, who has yet to ride for the Robins following his recent signing, picked up two more points in his final heat to finish on a total of six but that was not enough to make the top-seven cut for the final.

Scunthorpe riders made the most of home advantage, as David Howe topped the final standings with a perfect 15 points, while teammate Ben Wilson bagged 13.

Kennett also cruised through along with Bridger, Robson and Lanham.

Former Robin Lee Richardson snuck in at seventh, but made hard work of it, winning his final heat to total eight points.

Simon Stead had to pull out of the semi-final due to his continuing rib problem but could still join Nicholls in the final, with two wildcard places up for grabs.
