IN reply to Tom Horwat, (Adver, August 25) If you have internet access, Tom, type in ‘immigrants wielding knives at Calais’ and you will find numerous reports on this — The Sun, Daily Mail and Telegraph to mention but a few.

I agree 120 per cent on your comments on Bush and Blair and the devastation they have caused to this planet.

You mention a Native American expression.

Look what happened to them when they were over run by immigrants.

But let me make a firm point here, I have not one racialist thought in my brain.

Many years ago I had a serious hand accident while working on a Swindon building site.

My life was saved by the prompt action of a surgeon from overseas, as there was a grave danger of gangrene setting in.

I have an excellent dentist in Bath Road who is from abroad.

In London two years ago I had a life saving operation.

The anaesthetist and two nurses were from other countries.

Not to mention an excellent barmaid in my local. Staff at the local shops and quite a few of our local cab drivers.

All doing a good job and contributing to a civilised society.

But I have a vested interest in my homeland.

I refer to my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.

I am sure many readers of these pages can identify with my grave concerns for the future of Great Britain if we do not close our borders soon.

We are an overcrowded little island and figures to be released this Thursday expect to state that there are over eight million people in Britain who were not born here. Bearing in mind that’s only the ones we know about.

Time to pull up the drawbridge, in my opinion, unless they have the skills we need, in the best practical interests of our future generations.

In the meantime, as the Euro continues on its path to financial ruin for many of the countries who joined it, and hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants storm Europe.

Europe’s most senior official, Comrade Jean-Claude Plonker, sorry Juncker,. This basket case declares banishing border controls was one of our greatest achievements.

May I assure you sir, many Brits, as well as many Europeans, beg to differ.
