I AM writing to complain about the article printed in your paper regarding the council taking away my pitch in the town centre for the selling of doughnuts.

The point that I wanted to come across was that the council should be supporting us to stay in our jobs, especially during the recession, just like the government is trying to help people keep their jobs.

I feel that the way my situation was put across in the article was as a joke, starting from the title “I doughnut want to give up my stall.” There were no humorous titles for articles on Honda and Woolworths staff losing their jobs and I do not see how my situation is any different that it would provoke you to make a joke.

I feel that my comment about prison was taken out of context; I meant it as a way to demonstrate that I would be prepared to do anything to keep the job I have been doing for the past 12 years but this was twisted to sound arrogant and aggressive.

Your article prompted the narrow-minded and ignorant comments on your web site, not to mention the racist and prejudice ones that were allowed to stay on there for two days! There were some fair comments and I am grateful for the support but I was mostly personally attacked and those comments are still on there. Surely you have a responsibility to ensure removal of any comments such as these.

This is a serious situation, I am losing my livelihood like many other, however, I will not get redundancy money and I will not get compensation.

I am a family man and all I want to do is provide for my family like the next person.
