WHEN I picked up my Adver on Tuesday I had to check the date. Wind turbines on the Honda site? It must be a joke.

It would be interesting to find out where the funding for this scheme is coming from. We will probably discover that it is a Government idea, funded by the EU.

They were probably looking for a site to experiment the effects of wind turbines in an urban setting. The requirements were for a town where the locals were a bit simple and very gullible. They would try to convince us that it would be good for us.

Our planning department would pass it on the basis that they were prepared to see the local people suffer, and the detrimental effects would be outweighed by the benefits to the community as a whole. Then it might be suggested that an earth bank, with trees on the top, is used to screen the site.

I hope that I am wrong but I have had experience of the planning process recently and money and the interests of business seem to take precedence every time.

I would not care to denigrate all of Swindon Council planning but some areas of it do give cause for concern.

It would be good if more people were interested in the planning process this is on the agenda at present.

Swindon Council is actively seeking more involvement by the community.
