MRS A Lubin (SA Feb 7) is probably correct when she says that most folk prefer their own country and that those seeking asylum have been forced to flee.

What she fails to explain is why people who are supposed to be persecuted or in fear of their lives don't seek asylum in the first safe haven reached. They prefer to travel halfway round the world to reach this country.

It may be something to do with the gravy train which appears to offer a free ticket to all foreigners coming here.

Mrs Lubin, in her usual style, mentions right-wing dictators. It is a pity that she is not 50 years younger as I am sure that if she was then Swindon Town Football club would sign her on.

This lady is so left wing that she makes our Don Rogers look like a centre-forward.
