Town bounced back in style last Saturday as they easily brushed aside Port Vale at the County Ground.

The result moved Mark Cooper’s side into 7th place in League One, striker Dany N’Guessan was deservedly named man of the match for his best performance in a Town shirt.

French born N’Guessan has enjoyed a successful start to life in Wiltshire with six goals in six starts including six substitute appearances.

When he arrived in Swindon he revealed he turned down Championship side Blackpool and opted for a move to Town.

In his first decent run out for the club he made a big impression against Wolves at Molineux, with a good performance and scoring his first Town goal.

But despite his good start, he has been caught offside more times than any other Town player, a part of his game he has to work on.

With their being no first team game this week, Mark Cooper took a select XI over to Cheltenham’s training ground to face the Robins reserve team.

The Swindon Town XI won the game 5-2 with impressive performances from Nicky Ajose and Kayden Jackson especially.

Summer signing Harry Agombar also made a rare appearance in a Town shirt coming on as a second half substitute.

The 21-year olds move to Swindon during the summer was unusual with the club never announcing his arrival; instead the Adver revealed he had signed a one-year deal from Maltese side Floriana in July.

The former Macclesfield player has yet to feature for Town, and with the club not entered into a reserve league, his chances of playing are slim at SN1.

I hope we get a chance to see the younger playmaker at some point this season.

Winger Nicky Ajose also made an appearance in the match and made a big case for a starting place this Saturday.
The former Manchester United player has made a decent start at Town but hasn’t been able to put together a consistent run of form for the club.

Since signing for Peterborough in 2011, Ajose has spent most of his professional career out on loan at various League One and League Two clubs.

With his loan deal coming to an end on New Years Day, I would like to see the club try and sign the striker on a permanent deal.

He has all the attributes to be a great player, and I hope Town show faith in him next January and bring him back to SN1.

This weekend Town forget about life in League One, as they enter the World’s oldest cup competition, the F.A Cup.

On the 23rd October 1886, Swindon Town welcomed Watford to The Croft in Swindon for the clubs first ever F.A Cup tie.

Town won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Welsh inside left Dick Jones.

Fast-forward 127 years and Town enter the famous Cup competition for the 116th time as they travel to Moss Rose in Cheshire to face Macclesfield, a repeat of last years 1st Round tie.

The game at the County Ground was one of the worst performances of the season, as the Silkmen dumped Town out of the Cup with a 2-0 win.

In the clubs 134-year history, Town has never won the competition, but have been semi-finalists twice in 1910 and 1912, and quarter-finalists in 1911, 1924, and most recently in 1970.
