A MAN was with his five-year-old daughter when he was assaulted by masked youth on Sunday.
Wiltshire Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident at around 5.45pm in the Lainesmead Play Park, Walcot.
The attack happened when there was an argument between him and a group of youths; during the incident he was knocked unconscious briefly by an unknown male who had his face covered with mask.
The victim's injuries were, in his own words, superficial but he went to hospital for a check-up as he had been initially knocked unconscious.
PC Ed Rogers said: "There were several members of public nearby who may have seen what happened and we would appreciate their help in investigating this particularly nasty incident.
"Also, if you heard or saw anything suspicious in this area, around this time, please contact me."
If you can help contact PC Ed Rogers on 101 or, anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
At around 5pm on Friday, July 28, there was a violent confrontation on the footpath which runs past Lainesmead Primary School.
Wiltshire Police appealed for witnesses to come forward with information about an incident that left a 16-year-old with what were described as "cuts and bruising to his legs".
Information later came to light that the attack involved a knife and the victim's injuries were the result of being stabbed.
