A TEENAGER arrested by armed police has been released.

The 16-year-old was cuffed yesterday afternoon, after armed cops from the Tri-Force stormed a house off Okus Road.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of a bladed article and possession of Class A drugs.

The youth was taken to Gablecross Police Station, but has since been released under investigation.

Police were called at 1.25pm on Wednesday.

Armed officers in marked and unmarked 4x4s swooped on the Pasteur Drive home, while overhead a police helicopter was seen circling over Okus for at least 20 minutes.

One officer was later seen emerging from the house with a shotgun.

Police confirmed that they had seized a number of "items of interest" from the house, which have been sent away for further analysis.

A neighbour, 29, who asked not to be named, said: “We came in the house and two minutes later the police turned up.”

She added: “I was sat at the window and a copper appeared telling me to move. They’ve always got police up here at that house. But this is the first time we’ve had armed police.”

Another man, 42, said: “We saw the helicopter and the next minute the police came round.”
