THIS IS the face of "arrogant and cruel" rapist Gowtham Anthonypillai, who was jailed for more than 11 years at Swindon Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police have released the 22-year-old's custody shot after the man's victim agreed to waive her right to anonymity in order to allow him to be named.

Det Con Leannda Benfield, the officer in the case, said: "This dangerous man carried out an unprovoked, vicious assault on his victim."

Those comments came after a Swindon judge branded Anthonypillai arrogant and cruel. Judge Jason Taylor QC said: "In my judgement your evidence in the court was nothing more than a performance of feigned indignation, crocodile tears and lies.

“The pity you feel is to yourself and the jury, rightly in my view, saw through it with very little hesitation."
