Swindon Town owner Clem Morfuni said that he still can’t put a timeframe on buying back the shares in the club.

It was revealed in August that Holly Kiely of Swinton Reds 20 Ltd. was transferred a 17.1% voting right shareholding in the club in September 2022 to help finance the payment of a debenture of £2.9 million, but this was not disclosed until its publication at Companies House, in addition to 5% being owned by Bethany Parladorio.

Swindon and Morfuni were charged by the EFL over this for a failure to disclose the transference of a “significant interest” in the club, which had happened with the shares transferred to Kiely as it exceeded the EFL’s 10% threshold. The club is presently awaiting a decision on their punishment.

Upon this being revealed, Morfuni said in a statement on the club website that not disclosing the change in shareholding was a "mistake" and he apologised to all supporters.

The Swindon Town Advisory Board minutes said in September that Morfuni intended to buy back the shares, but it is "not an immediate priority."

The Australian businessman has previously said that most of the money has since been repaid and the majority of shares reclaimed, although a “small minority shareholding remains to these two individuals".

In an interview with the Adver, Morfuni said that he was still in the process of buying back the shares but that was not close to a resolution.

He said: “We are going through that process now, obviously we have to speak to the lawyers and stuff like that, so that is a process we are still going through.

“Obviously, I want to concentrate on fixing stuff on the pitch and some other issues, so we are in the process of doing that at the moment.

“[How far are you through that process?] That depends. Look, it is a priority but they have no influence over the club anyway, Anthony [Hall] and I run the show.

“They have just got no influence so we have more important things to concentrate on than trying to buy the shares back but we are going through that process.

“[Will it happen in the next few months?] It might take longer than that.

“I have got a meeting with the lawyers on Friday to go through it to work out all of the paperwork and all the other stuff that goes with everything.”
